Training Open Events:

Join us for an Open Evening to learn more about our two-term January Certificate programme

These open events take place in our training room, at our Centre in Tunbridge Wells. They are a great opportunity to meet our team, ask any questions you might have, find out more about the course and whether the Centre would be the right fit for you on your training journey.

There are limited spaces available for each Open Event, with a charge of £10 per person (to be deducted from your application fee should you wish to apply). Our courses are an opportunity to develop your skills in social workplaces, access opportunities only available to those with professional mental health training, or work towards becoming a fully-fledged counsellor.

Bridging Course

We are developing a bridging course to support individuals who have completed an external Level 3 in counselling skills that does not include the experiential group training we require to apply for our Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (BACP Accredited). This 10-week program, titled “Psychodynamic Theory and Experiential Learning,” aims to bridge this gap and prepare students for advanced Diploma study.

The course offers an immersive learning experience that combines theoretical Psychodynamic understanding with practical application. It covers key psychodynamic concepts such as transference, countertransference, and unconscious processes, while also providing the essential experience of experiential group work. These additional components to your level 3 learning are crucial for developing the self-awareness and interpersonal skills necessary for the Diploma course and effective psychodynamic practice.

By integrating both theoretical and experiential components, the course ensures students are comprehensively prepared for the demands of the Diploma program, equipping them to advance in their counselling careers.

Our Professional Training

The Counselling Centre has 23+ years’ experience in professional training.

We are well respected in the counselling world and all courses are delivered to the highest professional standards.

We offer a Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling, which is a gateway course for the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. accredited by the BACP.

We also offer a programme of CPD for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.

Value for money

Course fees are comprehensive and include seminars, an experiential group and tutorials.

For Diploma trainees, fees include the required clinical placement of 150 hours and supervision of this client work.

Diploma trainees are required to be in personal therapy, costs of which are additional to the course fees.

Clinical Placement

Professional Diploma courses require trainee counsellors to work with clients to develop their clinical skills. Finding a placement which provides sufficient and appropriate client work can be difficult. Sometimes it results in placements which can leave the student struggling or in a situation which undermines confidence.

At the Counselling Centre all Diploma students engage in placements within the Centre’s own BACP-accredited counselling service. This means training and clinical practice are integrated, coherent and congruent with the psychodynamic approach central to the work at the Centre.

Diploma students at TCC are eligible to apply for a NUS (National Union of Students) TOTUM card, which offers various benefits and discounts.
