The Counselling Centre - Tunbridge Wells
We are now open for applications for September 2019 for both the Certificate and Diploma courses. Please see below for more information and an application form.
Quality of training
Our Centre has over 20 year of experience in the provision of training. It is well respected and recognised within the counselling world and is assessed and maintained to high standards. The Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling is accredited by the BACP.
Training through our courses enables graduates to work towards gaining BACP accreditation, and to register and become members of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). The BPC is a professional association which recognises high standards of clinical work and represents the profession of psychoanalytical and psychodynamic psychotherapy nationwide.
A progressive training is offered including a foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling Skills, the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (BACP Accredited) and Continuing Professional Development.
"The Best and most inspiring course I've ever been on. The content was excellent, the direction was great and the support marvellous. My only regret is that right now is not the right time for me to continue to the diploma course, but I aim to in the not too distant future" 2014 Certificate trainee
Value for money
At the Counselling Centre the course fees are comprehensive. The current fee covers seminars, experiential group, tutorials, placement and supervision of client work. Students on the Diploma course are required to be in personal therapy, the cost of which is extra to the course fee.
The Diploma course requires trainee counsellors to work with clients. Finding a placement to provide the student with client work can be difficult and can sometimes result in placements that are inappropriate. This can leave the counsellor struggling and can undermine their confidence.
At the Counselling Centre all students see clients at the Centre. Clients are allocated to them. They do not have to search for placements or their own clients. However, there is no guarantee that the Centre can provide clients, this does depend on the number of clients seeking counselling. Trainees may have to continue their placement beyond the two academic years in order to complete their counselling hours.
Experienced and qualified counsellors assess all clients. Supervision is provided at the Centre by qualified and experienced supervisors.
Training offered by the Counselling Centre:

Diploma students at TCC are eligible to apply for a NUS (National Union of Students) TOTUM card, which offers various benefits and discounts.
