Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (BACP Accredited)

We are now open for applications for the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (BACP) starting in September 2019. The deadline for applications is Friday , 14th June 2019. Please see below for more information and an application form.

This two year part-time course is designed for those who want to train and practice as a psychodynamic counsellor. Each year is divided into three terms. Our Diploma training includes weekly supervision and client work, all held within The Centre. Our costs cover your supervision, placement and training sessions.

The Centre is a PCDL approved learning provider.

The 2019 Diploma intake will take place on a Tuesday. (1st year: 10.00 - 16.45 / 2nd year: 9.30 - 17.00)

Please note, that in order to complete the Diploma, trainee counsellors must acquire 150 hours of clinical practice. For this reason we provide a third clinical year of training when necessary where trainees continue to see clients, attend supervision and twice termly seminars.

In the first year, the training day consists of two seminars (2 hours duration), and an experiential group of 1.5 hours. In the second year the day is longer with three seminars and the experiential group.

Each seminar leader has a personal style and special skills that influence the focus and direction of the seminars.

The curriculum has a 'spiral' shape in that the concepts introduced, explored and re-visited in greater depth later on in the course.

Please note: the experiential group work is an essential component of the psychodynamic training we provide. It is therefore a requirement that applicants have completed a Certificate in Counselling Skills with an experiential group work component.
