Quality of Training
The Counseling Centre has over 20 years’ experience in the provision of professional training. As a training organisation we are well respected within the counselling world and courses are delivered to the highest professional standards.
A progressive professional training is offered starting with the Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling Skills, a gateway training for the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. accredited by the BACP.
Graduates from the Diploma then work towards gaining individual BACP accreditation.
We also offer a programme of CPD for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.
"The Best and most inspiring course I've ever been on. The content was excellent, the direction was great and the support marvellous. My only regret is that right now is not the right time for me to continue to the diploma course, but I aim to in the not too distant future" - 2014 Certificate trainee
Value for money
Course fees are comprehensive and cover seminars, experiential group, tutorials, and in the case of the Diploma, clinical placement and supervision of client work. Students on the Diploma course are required to be in personal therapy, the cost of which is in addition to the course fees.
Professional Diploma courses require trainee counsellors to work with clients to develop clinical skills. Finding a placement to provide sufficient client work, usually upwards of 120 hours, can be difficult. Sometimes it results in placements that are inappropriate which can leave the student struggling or in a situation which undermines confidence.
At The Counselling Centre all diploma students are placed within the Centre’s own counselling service. This means training and clinical practice are integrated, coherent and congruent with the psychodynamic approach central to the work which takes place at the Centre.
All clients are assessed by experienced senior counsellors before allocation to trainees to ensure that experience is developed in a way which is beneficial and safe for each trainee. Supervision is also provided on a weekly basis at the Centre by highly experienced supervisors.
