Quality of training

The Counselling Centre is one of a nation-wide network of centres of the Westminster Pastoral Foundation. This network aims to provide quality counselling and training both at the wpf in London and in the network centres. The training is well respected and recognised within the counselling world and is assessed and maintained to high standards. The wpf Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling is Accredited by the BACP. The training also offers a sound foundation for individuals when they wish to apply for their individual BACP Accreditation.

A progressive training is offered including a wpf Certificate in Counselling Skills, wpf Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (BACP Accredited) and Continuing Professional Development.

Value for money

At the Counselling Centre the course fees are comprehensive. The fee covers seminars, experiential group, tutorials, placement and supervision of client work. Students on the Diploma course are required to be in personal therapy, the cost of which is extra to the course fee.

Placement availability

The Diploma course requires trainee counsellors to work with clients. Finding a placement to provide the student with client work can be difficult and can sometimes result in placements that are inappropriate. This can leave the counsellor struggling and can undermine their confidence.

At the Counselling Centre all students see clients at the Centre. Clients are allocated to them. They do not have to search for placements or their own clients. However, there is no guarantee that the Centre can provide clients, this does depend on the number of clients seeking counselling. Trainees may have to continue their placement beyond the two academic years in order to complete their counselling hours.

Experienced and qualified counsellors assess all clients. Supervision is provided at the Centre by qualified and experienced supervisors.
