Our commitment to you

Confidentiality and trust are important to the provision of a good standard of practice and care.  It is also important that you are aware that counsellor/client confidentiality may be limited when there is a real risk of you posing serious harm to yourself or others.  Your counsellor will aim to work with you to provide good quality care that is respectful of your capacity for self-determination and the trust that you share with your counsellor.  Your counsellor will encourage you to seek appropriate help for yourself for your particular circumstance.  However, in extreme circumstances The Counselling Centre may seek help on your behalf to protect you or others from harm.  Whenever possible this would be discussed with you in advance.

All personal information disclosed to a counsellor is confidential to The Counselling Cnetre and no information is disclosed to a third party without the prior consent of the individual concerned.  The only exception to this would be as a requirement of a Court of Law.

The Counselling Centre is an equal opportunities organisation seeking to exercise the best possible stewardship of its charitable resources in helping people regardless of age, class, race, culture, religion, gender, marital status sexual preference or physical ability.  In response to this we are able to offer a loop system for the hard of hearing.  If you have difficulties with flights of stairs and would have problems attending our premises which are on the 1st and 2nd floors we will be able to see you for counselling at the nearby St. John's Church where there is full disabled access.
