How can counselling help?
There are times in all our lives when we feel unable to cope. Sometimes the causes of these problems seem fairly clear and we know where to turn for assistance. At other times our problems are difficult to understand and we can find no answer from our own resources or contacts.
Talking to a counsellor, who is impartial and skilled, can help us work through our personal difficulties and find solutions.
Counsellors are trained to listen and to help us explore our feelings, thoughts and behaviours in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental way. Counselling does not claim to be the answer to all human difficulties, but it can help us find our own answers and does offer support. In this way counselling assists us to move towards more effective ways of coping, enabling us to have greater control of our lives.
Who we are...
We are a non-profit making registered charity. The Charity is an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a network centre of the Westminster Pastoral Foundation, London (WPF). WPF is the countries largest charitable provider of general counselling services and a leading provider of psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy training.
The Counselling Centre was established in Tunbridge Wells in 1989 since when we have seen thousands of clients.
Our counsellors are all trained (or are in training) to Diploma level and beyond and are experienced in a wide range of issues. All counsellors have regular supervision not just as a BACP requirement but to ensure the standards of counselling at the Centre is maintained at the highest level
The geographical area we cover spans West Kent and East Sussex.
